Fishing

Whether you’re a professional fisherman, a kid after your first panfish or somewhere in between, Leech Lake has the fish you’re searching for. If you want trophy fish; walleyes, muskies, northerns and largemouth bass are all here (and don’t forget the “famous” Leech Lake eelpout). If you want panfish for the kids or for the table; perch, crappies, bluegills and rockbass are big and plentiful. And best of all, you can fish for all of these within sight of our resort and we’ll try our best to put you on the hot-spots with the hot-baits.

Our Kabekona Bay is a sheltered 1,000 acre bay on the west end of Leech Lake, the third largest lake in Minnesota. With 112,000 acres of water and 230 miles of shoreline, Leech Lake is a world-class fishery, but its vast waters can be overwhelming to some fisherman. It can be rough and intimidating, keeping some fisherman on shore during windy weather. However, our protected location gives us the best of both worlds: sheltered fishing and boating waters…… with access to the larger parts of Leech on calmer days. Kabekona Bay is suited for even the smallest of boats and many of our guests never leave our bay, as the fishing for all species is great right here.

Few lakes offer multi-species fishing in the quantity and quality that are available to you here. Come and see for yourself why Leech Lake has earned its world-famous reputation as a fisherman’s paradise.

Our guest list of fishing personalities can attest to the great fishing on Leech Lake. Our guests include “Mr. Walleye” Gary Roach, Tony Dean, Bob Jensen, Jason Mitchell and many PWT walleye pros. MidWest Outdoors, The Tony Dean Show, Jason Mitchell Outdoors, Fishing The Midwest and Rebel’s People Who Fish have all filmed from our resort, as have Al and Ron Lindner and the In-Fisherman crew. Dana has even guest hosted many television shows on Leech for MidWest Outdoors and Fishing The Midwest. He also works closely with National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame guide, Al Maas, who is a local legend on Leech Lake.
